Vallun smirked, but his eyes held no mirth in them. "I'll try." He said. He picked up his pack, and that is when he noticed it was missing. The hilt was gone! It wasn't where he'd left it. He started looking in the pack, shifting everything in it. It wasn't there. Panicking, he dropped his pack and started looking for it on the charred earth, unaware of anything else around him.

Vallun had almost given up hope, when he discoverd the phoenix head hilt, buried under a pile of charred wood. Throwing the debris away carelessly, he quietly put it back in his back. He hoped that no one had seen it.
