No problem James, a few more days won't hurt us to much We know you are at the mercy of the 'snail mail' system We all do appreciate you for doing this for us.

The single most dangerous thing in all of Krynn is to hear a Kender say "oops".

Fizban Who?

Well I have not read all nine pages of this post but as I skip to the last page it appears nobody has a copy yet? Well if not let me ease your worry, as I just picked up a copy of Dragon Magazine at my local book store and a preview of the movie with picture is indeed in there! They make it sound pretty interesting, and my hopes have risen a bit, but I hate cartoons and anime so I take all of this with a grain of salt. I am hopeful but until Peter Jackson gets his hands into the mix I will remain a skeptical. The article does mention their loyalty to the storyline of the books and it will be PG-13 since they are not watering the graphic nature of some scenes like Riverwind's acid bath. It's an interesting article with some pictures which unfortunately I can't scan, but the aricle is real and it is in the August issue of Dragon. Rumor has it that it may release in November but the article says the big screen is still unknown, but that has already been reported at this site so no new news there.

If they release it in theatres in November, they'll have Beowulf to contend with. They'd better release it earlier, or the following month if they want to stand apart from the competition.

"it will be PG-13 since they are not watering the graphic nature of some scenes like Riverwind's acid bath"

What are they for real? They expect us to buy in to that? I'm so sick of this mob who're making this movie treating us fans like idiots. PG-13 IS WATERING DOWN THE GRAPHIC NATURE OF THE VIOLENCE YOU FISH STICKS!

As some one said on another thread, PG-13 is kid's violence like in Star Wars and the Harry Potter films. Riverwind's acid bath will be as explicit and graphical as the quick flash of Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru charred and smoking bodies from Star Wars.

I don't care how violent the violence is but I can't stand being lied to or twisting words around to try to make something out to be a certain thing when it clearly isn't.

A gritty, edgy, dark violent animated Dragonlance movie? Yeah right, PG-13 rating puts the breaks on that one.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't PG-13 one rating removed from good old family value G rating?

Oooo! This Dragonlance cartoon is so edgy.

You're a little off. PG-13 is actually 2 steps. It was created for movies such as Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom that weren't quite explicit enough to warrant a R but at the same time were a little too much for PG. The only Star Wars film to get a PG-13 was Revenge of the Sith. With Harry Potter it's the two most recent films that are PG-13 while the first 3 are PG.

Hmm, I'm not sure what the most violent or gory PG-13 film would be. Minority Report and The Ring are both PG-13. Poltergeist was PG, although it would probably be PG-13 today, and it has the scene where the guy rips his face off.

Now that I think about it Poltergeist probably takes the cake. If you haven't seen it, here is the scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tF5gAwZHAfE It has a maturity check but you can easily get around it by typing 'download youtube' into google and clicking a site whose url sounds very close to that. Check it if you haven't seen it and tell me if it isn't one of the goriest scenes ever to get a PG.

Thinking of animation Princess Mononoke and Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker (Uncut version) are both PG-13.

"There is no particular mystery in animation... it's really very simple, and like anything that is simple, it is about the hardest thing in the world to do." - Bill Tytla

Yeah priest, after posting that I just realised I made myself look like an ignorant dick . . . again.

A quick wiki search educated me on the MPAA rating and let me tell you they are pretty screwed up and don't make much sense.

In Australia we do things diffrent The ratings are as follow

G: all ages.

PG: not suitable for people under the age of 13

M: Not suitable for people under the age of 15

MA: strictly prohibited to people under the age of 15

R: strictly prohibited under the age 18.

Now when you look at it in this way, I start to get that PG-13 is the same as M rating.

So this is a little bit more intense then Star Wars kids violence.

Lord Of The Rings and Princess Mononoke are a prime example. I wouldn't let a child under the age of 8 see it but a child over the age of 10 should find it a hoot.

So who knows maybe the goblins when they get their heads cut off might spray a little bit of black blood? Plus what about draconians? Do they gush blood when they are hacked up? I can't remeber, vaugely recall the books mention some sort of ooze. But not sure and the only reason I bring this up cause it is hard to imagine a monster spouting blood when they turn to solid stone when stabbed like a pig on a spit. (is that counted as a food anaology? mmm bacon?)

mailman hasn't stopped by yet today... Hate snail mail, arctic circle and express shipping that takes over a week... grumble grumble grumble

Thanks tirwin! My true eye colour is not brown, but hazel!

Its allways fun to read how Tonka puts his foot in his mouth, then goes to wikipedia to find out for sure. And yeah, the north american rating system is effed up. And Since I'm old enough to go see anything I want, I'm going to disregard them completely.

Still can't wait to get my hands on that article.

If someone tells me how to add pictures to the add reply screen I could maybe give it a shot. I have very simple computer skills so this high tech stuff is not my cup of tea if you get my drift. But I do have a scanner and can give it the old college try if nothing else. I will go scan the pictures into a file for starters so the are ready to import or whatever else needs to be done next. Be back in a bit.
