Well, it's done and I've compiled the results. A bit more work than I'd expected, but hey ... I promised. First, a few notes:

  • I've included, along with the popular vote, my personal choices as well; call it a small conceit in exchange for having put this puppy together.
  • I've included, along with the popular vote, my personal choices as well; call it a small conceit in exchange for having put this puppy together. There was one tie: Darryl Hannah and Meg Ryan had the same number of votes as Goldmoon. Using my powers as arbiter of the dream cast, I chose Meg Ryan from the two.
  • I've included, along with the popular vote, my personal choices as well; call it a small conceit in exchange for having put this puppy together. There were two actors who won in two different roles. Sean Connery won for Gunthar and Zebulah; Danny De Vito for Flint and Toede. In these cases, I choose the role they won more decisively -- Zebulah for Sean, Flint for Danny. I then moved down the list for the other to find the right actor: Wallace Shawn for Toede (second place), Gene Hackman for Gunthar (third place; Patrick Stewart was second, but was already picked for Astinus). If Peter Sellers were still alive, I'd have allowed him to win multiple roles, but no one else :-]
  • I've included, along with the popular vote, my personal choices as well; call it a small conceit in exchange for having put this puppy together. I had to disqualify five or six ballots because of the Culkin Rule. You were warned :-]
  • I've included, along with the popular vote, my personal choices as well; call it a small conceit in exchange for having put this puppy together. I also discounted any votes for "myself" or "anyone but X," but kept the rest of the ballot.
  • I've included, along with the popular vote, my personal choices as well; call it a small conceit in exchange for having put this puppy together. I attempted to figure out names for all the votes of "the guy who played X in Y." I think I got them all :-]
  • I've included, along with the popular vote, my personal choices as well; call it a small conceit in exchange for having put this puppy together. Votes for "an unknown" were discounted. I appreciate the sentiment, and share it to an extent, but it is kinda vague.
  • I've included, along with the popular vote, my personal choices as well; call it a small conceit in exchange for having put this puppy together. This vote is, of course, not authoritative. Some roles were in flux in a big way -- Teri Hatcher came out of nowhere to claim Takhisis, Morgan Freeman surged ahead as Theros after Seven came out (I even changed my vote). Other roles might have changed a lot if the contest were kept open longer -- after ruling unchallenged for a long time, Sandra Bullock was beginning to lose a lot of ground to Madeleine Stowe once Twelve Monkeys came out. Kevin Sorbo probably would have overtaken Arnie for Caramon in a few weeks if I'd had the stamina to keep things going. Results could therefore be wildly different if the contest ran again today.
