I have the ultimate teaser trailor. A black screen with an unseen voice saying "In a world where turmoil is upon us. A world where monsters rule. A world where a few unsuspecting heroes go on a quest that will save and risk everything. A world of magic!" Then you would hear someone say "Shirak" and a light would flare and you would see raistlins eyes up close and he would laugh. The screen fades with him laughing. Then the dragonlance movie logo would come up and it would say coming soon and then a date.

Sounds good! I don't want to push the 'another world' thing though. That sends a message of 'geek movie' to the rest of the movie going public.

In regards to Cameron Cleary's comments, I have to agree. Though, I think if that is presenting a problem, the story should be shown from Tanis's point of view. Basically have him narrate it, kind of like he's telling his son about it when he is young before he takes up the thrown of Qualinesti. I honestly don't like to change the book at all. The books do a great job at telling the story of the War of the Lance, but compromises have to be made. But of course, good acting and portrayal is a good thing also. ^^ I would love to see the Chronicles or even the Legends made into movie format.

Thanks for your Time.

I think that some narration by Tanis for parts which we may have to cut for length may be a good idea. We'll keep it in mind.

Lord of the rings(the movie), was amazing. why? Because of the acting, visual effects, and story line. If somebody could take the script from Dragons of Autumn twilight and do the same thing on screen, not only would it be just as good, I guarantee you it would be better for one reason.

In the LOTR books, you are missing one HUGE thing. Character attachment. And yes I'm aware that that is not an official term. The biggest thing that has prompted me to read the eight major Dragonlance books 4 times over, is my love for the characters. From the first moment I opened "Dragons of Autumn Twilight" in the ninth grade, I've wanted so badly to be the all powerful, brilliantly amazing Raistlin. (Ok, so he's everyone's favorite, step off.) I even went as Raistlin for Halloween that year. Sure no one knew who I was, which made it that much more exciting for me.

I guess when all is said and done, I just think that if someone were to take this project as seriously as they did LOTR, it has an opportunity to blow that movie out of the water.

What can I say. Tolkien could never dream of having characters like the ones we have! At the moment that is the one thing we have to convince the movie studios that we're not jumping on the LOTR bandwagon and making just a copy. Apart from forcing them at gunpoint to read the book!

I was browsing for news on any DL projects, when I came across your site. What you're doing is pretty good, and I'd like to help in any way I can with this project. I am a Dragonlance fan and also a writer (unpublished) and have been working on my own Dragons of Autumn Twilight script. I did notice you have many of the same ideas and views as I do. But only you and I know what's in our own imaginations! With the success of LOTR I've been inspired with some fresh viewpoints, and have started re-writing my script to include them.

Whilst I don't do storyboards, I do write a lot, and my imagination is boundless, I would hope to help in some way with your project, even if it's just getting my ideas across somehow, a little difficult in words.

I also have spotted some very good actors (a point of much debate amongst DL fans) that would bring life to the characters, and don't worry they're not Arnold Shwarzenegger. They are small screen or unknown actors, but fit the roles perfectly.

Anyway, I will mention one thing, in your flash teaser, the monologue wasn't bad, but if I were you I wouldn't mention the Dragons, I'd pictured the scene at the well where Khisanth first shows herself to be a huge surprise for the audience, and maybe to be slightly "tweaked" in the writing so as to emphasis that fact. The monologue part takes the surprise out of it slightly.

We must not only cater to DL fans, but those who've never seen DL before, which is why I wouldn't use the DL Logo either, simply "Dragons of Autumn Twilight" and in small letters under each movies title, put "The Dragonlance Chronicles"

Anyway, those are my views ;) Hope to hear a reply from you fellow DL fan.

I also wanted the dragons to be a suprise. Unfortunatley with a title like DragonLance its a bit pointless. Then you have to remember that the marketing guy's will want to show dragons in the trailers to draw people in. I think the DragonLance logo is cool and is not going to put non-fans off seeing the movie. The title of the movie could still be Dragons of Autumn Twilight even with the original logo. If someone comes up with a better logo which the fans prefer, then it will change.

Some points for discussion - does anybody think that with the release of LOTR:FOTR, and the impending releases of LOTR:TTT and LOTR:TRTK, that people will have had enough of fantasy-genre movies? Or will the LOTR trilogy whet the appetite of viewers? Likewise, did the D&D movie play a role and/or have an effect on LOTR's and other fantasy movies' success? Will we be able to live up to the incredible popularity of LOTR (Not that it would be a bitter failure if we didn't)? With LOTR out and more coming, would major corporations want to do another similar film in the not-so-distant feature? Personally, I really have no weight on my mind to answer either way to any of these questions. Just curious.

(My use of the word "we" if obviously out of place. I have no direct involvement with this project)

The screenplay looks good, in my opinion, but have you considered co-writing it? By the posts I see, you're getting alot of comments on the negative (if I may use that word). I agree with eveything in the screenplay so far, and the way it's presented. However, that's from the point of view of a guy who simply enoys the books, not a Dragonlance Purist. What I'm looking forward to mostly is the VISUAL. I know how the story goes. Most who would see the movie do. The story is old news. I'm looking to see what the characters look like and more importantly, see what Ansalon looks like! And then compare it to what I had in my imagination. That's the reason I would go see the movie. Sticking to the storyline is moot. Take some, leave some, but preserve the overall effect. LOTR left out the blindfolds in the forest and added Arwen/Aragorn. The movie is still B.O. #1. Anyhow, i got way off on a tangent there, but what I meant to say is that I think that many points of view should be taken into consideration so as to recreate the story in the most rounded way.

I think the release of LOTR is an odd one. It both aids and hinders the release of another fanstasy movie. Only time will tell I suppose! We will get onto the visuals as soon as possible but that takes either money or willing talent. Keep checking!

The whole point of this site is to gain support and to listen to what the fans have to say. Even so, there has to be a final decision, else we would go around in circles. Rino and myself discuss all the suggestions and then decide what to keep and remove. If we get an influx of people dissagree with us, we'll make changes.
