Well this is music to my ears.
The perfect rating, in my opinion. I'd have been disappointed had it been rated PG, and I'd have boycotted the film had it been G or R.
This *should* mean the story won't be dumbed-down to appeal to the little kids.
For those in the UK or in Aussie like me, PG-13 means "Parental Guidance for anyone under 13 recommended". In other words, scenes like when Caramon calls Riverwind a nervous bastard might make it in, as well as the obligatory violence and possibly some blood sightings.
I doubt they'll show Riverwind getting owned by the dragon though, with a rating like this, and I say that's a good move. Showing his intestines would immediately give the movie an R-rating and scare away the young adult audience that Dragonlance needs. |

| So, I don't know a lot about the production and steps movies have to go through to make it to either the big screen or DVD...but does this mean that the movie is complete? |

I think that if the movie has gotten a rating then it should be "complete" at this point. After all, if there were changes to be made (other than cutting or re-editing) those new scenes would also have to go through the rating process.
Now, if only they'd show us a brief clip... doesn't have to be a full trailer, just a clip... *sigh* |

i would have prefered a 14A rating here. I would have enjoyed the whole melting scene that takes nothing away from the book. Ya and if it were pg i would have not got it forsure. Its not meant for the younger children regardless of what they could have tried.

Yes, the movie is finished. We should be hearing a firm release date soon!

I'm not sure what a 14A rating is. In the United states we do not have that.
G PG PG-13 R NC-17
Those are our ratings.
Also, it is good to know that the movie is completed. It's a great little update for us.

14A is virtually the same thing as pg-13. Only difference is that you have to be 14 and not 13 to get in.

For the benefit of those who aren't Americans, I'll expand a bit on Sirch's post.
G = General Audience. This means anyone can watch the movie without supervision. Little or no violence, no bad language, no adult themes. Example: Bambi, Cinderella, Bob the Builder
PG = Parental Guidance. This means children should be supervised, as there may be some violence, mild course language, or scary bits. Example: Spongebob Squarepants, The Incredibles.
PG13 = As described above, children 13 and younger must be supervised by an adult. More violence, most swearing other than the F and SH words allowed, mild sexual situations or brief mild nudity, parts that would either be too scary for children, or they simply wouldn't understand it. Example: Dragonlance!, Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, Lord of the Rings.
R = Restricted. This means anyone under 17 needs to be supervised by an adult. Strong language, heavy, graphic violence, nudity, just about anything goes. Example: Saw, Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th.
NC-17 = No Children under 17. Not many movies have been made with this rating, and it's generally reserved for movies that have graphic sex and nudity in them, yet aren't considered pornography. I haven't heard of anything receiving NC-17 for violence, and if the Saw movies didn't earn it, I doubt any ever will. Example: Showgirls.
I consider Dragonlance's rating to be perfect, as stated before, because the violence doesn't look like it'll be watered down, or the language. It doesn't look like it's been beefed up either, which is a relief. |

Probably be a 12 rating in the UK... IF it gets a full international release and not some silly Region 1 only release that is ???????
Even my wife is excited now, and shes still reading Autumn Twilight for the first time (she just discovered Fizban - Hahahaha)

A couple of months ago the word was the Black Dragon scene was in the movie and that they were not shying away from it's graphic nature. I wonder just how graphic it is now? I think they may have still kept it graphic with a PG 13 rating, just not a gorefest. Although I don't need this scene to be so vivid it keeps me up at night I would like it to be somewhat graphic to give the same horrific feelings you got when reading the book for the first time.
I like the PG 13 rating, but a soft R rating wouldn't have been bad either. Like the movie the Patriot which is rated R, but with the exception of the axe scene I often wonder why it's rated R. Guess it's violent since it is war, but not overly graphic, yet it still earned an R rating.
PG 13 is a good way to go though and we might get that November release yet!!! |

MW is the queen of darkness! Awesome!! My only comment is that if the Riverwind scene was done live action it probably would be an R rated movie. But perhaps because its animated it only gets PG-13 or something. Just an idea.
Here is to hoping we get the trailer before the dvd comes out!!! |

I don't think the Riverwind melting scene is necessary.. I mean yeah its always fun to watch people melt but I am not going to be upset if its not in there.. its not important maybe they will just show everyone's horrified faces to get the point across
